Add to basketGROUSE MAGIC NICK SISLEY ART EARL MARTZ 1981 SIGNED LIMITED NUMBERED SLIPCASE. As my recent listings have noted, I have acquired a lot of books about guns & rifles, part of a collection of a sportsman who had very good taste in books. Many of the books were also fine bindings and very nice presentations about outdoor life and sports. So, my current thematic group will shift a bit, from guns & rifles, to outdoor sporting books. I start this newer group with something exceptional, a book titled: Grouse Magic, by Nick Sisley. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ½ x 9 ½ inches in its slipcase, 240 pages) was self-published by the Author and copyright 1981 (no mention of other editions so I am assuming that this is the First Edition). This copy is a limited edition, numbered (#1397 of 1500) and signed by the Author and with the addition of a paste-down grouse feather on the half-title page. The book and the slipcase are bound in fine beige cloth with silver gilt titles and simple decorations. The artwork, starting with the decorated endpapers, is by Earl Martz and includes a full-page pen & ink drawing for each of the nineteen stories in this book. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The slipcase is clean and bright, without any damage and one tiny dark line on the rear board. The hard covers too are clean and bright and unbumped. Inside, the book is unmarked except for the Author s signature and limitation statement. I would say that the grouse feather has seen better days and you can work to get another one to replace it. The interior pages and plates are bright white and clean throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight, sound and square. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
