Item description from seller

1st Edition 1926. Ownership Inscription and Note about the Author in the Hand of Henry Williamson. A novel of the countryside set in Derbyshire and very rare especially with the art deco wrapper. From a large collection of Henry Williamson's and his family's books. Includes a specially commissioned small bookplate affixed inside the book confirming this. Romer Wilson 1891-1930 was a British writer who wrote about 13 novels during the inter-war period. In 1921, she won the Hawthornden Prize. Her novels contained a philosophical trend that spoke to some of the major concerns of the time, but also future generations. Among the subjects in her books topics included the First World War and its devastating effects on the civilization and personal relationships, the demise of a predominantly rural world, the harmful consequences for agriculture and human life through the introduction of machinery and the replacement of manual work through automation. The book is very good and bright. Front board and edges lightened/marked. Contents good. The wrapper is very good and bright. Light age toning and marking. Edges lightly rubbed and nicked.
