A fine work of Texas-based Americana, edited by Cleo Dawson and with contributions by her and by Minnie C. Gilbert, Florence Johnson, Scott Rafaela Barrera, Nola Mortin Harding, Eddie Valent, Elena Farias Barrera, Teresa Chapa Alamia, Anne L. Magee, J.W. (BIll) Pate, Daffan Van Kirk, Verna McKenna, Lucy H. Wallace, George R. Boyle, Lucy H. Wallace, Kitty Culwell and many others. Bound handsomely in green linen weave cloth over boards, gilt lettering to spine. Underlining opposite in 1993 relayed who had passed away by then. Map endpapers front and rear. Cleo Dawson Smith was a frequent visitor on the Johnny Carson Show and similar shows in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, moderately worn, lightly chipped along edges. Plentiful black-and-white illustrations and photographs galore. Volume contains scholarly apparatus in the form of, e.g., notes, index, and bibliography. Frontis matter, 271 pp.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
