At this point, she had had only a single poem published in the California Review, with no other credits. She'd find great acclaim thanks to her third book and first book of prose, The Solace of Open Space. A beautiful production in brown wrappers with brown endpapers, cover illustration by Judy Daniel, lettering in shades of blue and purple. Printed by Noel Young. One of 550 copies, with an additional 50 copies in cloth.
