Item description from seller

First edition of Thomas Love Peacocks The Genius of the Thames, an early poetic work preceding his later satirical novels and written during the formative period of his literary career within the Romantic circle. This copy carries a contemporary manuscript note identifying Edward Gryffydd Peacock, son of the author, providing a direct and meaningful family association. Material linking Peacock to his immediate family is scarce and rarely encountered on the market, elevating this example beyond a standard copy. Bound in original boards, worn but unrestored, preserving the authenticity and survival character of the period. Internally clean with light toning and occasional spotting consistent with age. An important association copy offering both literary and biographical significance, connecting the work directly to Peacocks family circle.
