Black-and-white illustrations by the author. 392 pages, 8vo, silver-stamped black cloth, dust wrapper (price-clipped). New York: Random House, (1969). First printing. Very good condition. Inscribed by the author on front free endpaper in brown ink: "For James Murray - Quite clearly, and incontrovertibly, California's finest British import, He Shall Be Missed! Barnaby May 31, 1973." Facing the inscription on the front pasted down endpaper is a detailed self-portrait of the author as a matador, titled on the top edge: "'Old Torero'" for J.M. by B.C.".
