About this Item
Azarian, Mary. The Four Seasons of Mary Azarian. Essays by Lilias MacBean Hart. Boston: David Godine, Publisher (2000). 1st Edition (stated). 9 ¼ x 12 ¼. 109 pp. Half blue cloth and light tan paper over boards lettered in gold with an illustration of a Vermont winter scene on the front cover. Color illustrated priced dust jacket. Signed by the illustrator on the title page. 106 illustrations in color and black/white. Illustrations are full-page and half-page. Lilias MacBean Hart has included a three-page 'How to make a Woodcut'. Three of the woodcuts from the book are reprinted on cream paper and printed at the Farmhouse Press of Vermont. All signed by Ms. Azarian. Fine copy in Fine dust jacket. Of course Ms. Azarian begins with Winter, it's Vermont. And through the seasons seen through the creative eye and humble soul of Mary Azarian. Originally from Scotland, Lilias MacBean Hart settled in Wilmington, Vermont in 1967, and opened the Quaigh Designs art gallery shortly thereafter. Lilias was Mary Azarian?s first gallery customer, and as she indicates in her hand-written note included with the book, they have been friends for 40 years. When I met Lilias during the summer of 2013, I asked her how to pronounce Quaigh, which I believe is the name of a ceremonial drinking goblet or cup, and I attempted it with a Scottish accent. She was not impressed and asked if I had something stuck in the back of my throat. Hahahah. Seller Inventory # 003655
