Add to basketSigned First Edition, First Printing of this classic early Cold War thriller in which the Soviets mount an operation to win a short, hot war through the machinations of a diabolically trained sleeper agent assigned to hamstring the American nuclear deterrent. A quite notable work in the realm of period popular culture as it was adapted for the debut show in the milestone CBS television series "Playhouse 90," The Playhouse 90 version featured a teleplay by Rod Sterling, direction by John Frankenheimer, and a star turn by Charlton Heston, resplendent in eye patch. The eye patch denotes good guy in this case -- another good guy is the future Dr. Phibes, Vincent Price, also holding a top rank on the side of freedom. Meanwhile, the most clean-cut, blonde fellow roaming highly restricted areas in the heart of the U.S. defense apparatus isTab Hunter -- sleeper agent and top graduate of the Soviet "Little Chicago" school of treachery! Cloth, 252 pages. The book has tanning and rubbing at the edges of the covers. The dust jacket has heavy edge wear and chipping at the top and bottom of the spine.
