Add to basketFirst edition. 165 pages. Signed by the author in black ink to the title page. The signature was obtained by renowned book dealer, Joe McCann in 2001 after McEwan's Richard Hillary Memorial Lecture in the Faculty of English, St. Cross Building, Oxford, and the post-Lecture dinner, which Joe attended as McEwan's guest. A note of provenance to this effect, signed by McCann, is loosely inserted. The book is firmly bound in clean black cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine, the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block is a little toned, with some minor marks and light spots of foxing. The dust jacket, with the spectacular wrap-around artwork designed by Bill Botten, is the original and not price clipped, it is very lightly rubbed and marked, with a little lifting of the laminate and slight creasing and rubbing to the edges. A signed first edition of McEwan's first published book, which is looking remarkably well considering that it is celebrating its half-century this year, and with better than usual provenance for the signature.
