Add to basketThe Family ? INSCRIBED ASSOCIATION COPY to Bert Fields ? Mario Puzo ? First Edition, 2001
Description
First edition of The Family by Mario Puzo, published in 2001, this copy uniquely inscribed to Bert Fields, the renowned entertainment attorney who represented Puzo.
The author?s handwritten inscription reads in part:
"For Bert Fields? who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat?" ? a personalized and contextually meaningful message that directly reflects Fields? legal advocacy on Puzo?s behalf.
This is a true association copy, linking author and recipient in a documented professional relationship. Unlike the commonly encountered facsimile or autopen inscriptions found in this title, this example is clearly hand-written, with natural variation in ink flow and line quality.
A scarce and desirable piece of modern literary and Hollywood history, combining Puzo?s legacy with one of the most prominent legal figures in the entertainment industry.
Condition
Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. Clean, tight binding. Inscription on front free endpaper. Light shelf wear only; no major flaws.
Note:
Although The Family was published posthumously in 2001, Mario Puzo completed substantial work on the manuscript prior to his death in 1999. During this period, he maintained close professional ties with attorney Bert Fields, to whom this copy is inscribed. The inscription is clearly handwritten, not a facsimile or autopen, and was almost certainly executed during Puzo?s lifetime in connection with the manuscript or its preparation. Association copies of this nature are consistent with pre-publication distribution and authorial presentation.
