Johnson [1860-1930] was born in Wagram, North Carolina and graduated from Wake Forest Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1898 and was Poet Laureate of Moore County. Signed presentation from Johnson on the front endpaper: "To Miss Kate Jones, with Congratulations of J. MacN. Johnson. [For?] `I was [all?] hungry and she gave me meat.'" Very Good (gilt on cover fairly bright, minor wear; some browning to inner gutters few pages & to title page, which has a small chip at the top & a few paper clip marks).
