Item description from seller

A 64pp long poem by Ida Graves with twenty-three associated wood engravings by her then husband Blair Hughes-Stanton. Printed on Basingwerk paper from the original 1934 print run at the illustrator's own Gemini Press. Newly bound by the Basilisk Press with boards covered in original rose paper and a brown leather strip to top and lower edges, together with a matching title plate on the spine. The new binding and accompanying slip case were made in London by David Sellars of the Designer Bookbinders. This copy in not numbered but is signed by the illustrator on the colophon. The new publishers' essay with checklist of other works by the illustrator is NOT included. However, laid in with the slip case is a 6pp prospectus for the book. Printed on same paper stock, tri-folded and illustrated with two full-page engravings from the book. The book is in fine condition with no spotting. It appears hardly read and was perhaps previously sold out-of-sequence.

Store description

The Bookshop at Beech Cottage trades exclusively via the internet. I acquire most of my stock through a network of suppliers based in southern England. My particular interests are illustrated Private Press and modern Poetry. I also have a collection of Prospectuses and similar ephemera. I am careful to select only the better quality items for the Bookshop that are within my speciality and pass on those that are outside my remit. I am a former librarian and read for pleasure - as many booksellers do! I take great care of my books while they are staying at Beech Cottage and would only ask my customers that they do likewise. Happy reading!…
