First edition, 1993. Signed by Gerd Puritz and Joy Puritz 'with thanks to Madeleine'. Hardback. 375pp. Dust jacket. Th great soprano Elisabeth Schumann had her first outstanding triumph at the age of 23, in 1911, when she dazzled audiences as Sophie, in 'Der Rosenkavalier'. She was to become one of Richard Strauss's favourite interpreters of his work. Written by her son (known to Elisabeth Schumann as Schnuck) who "knows everything about my life." Includes a list of Schumann's recordings. Book in near fine condition. Jacket very good. Unclipped. Light edge wear and some light soiling. Very small circular orange sticker to spine.
