About this Item

Description:

Adelaide, Rigby, 1976. Quarto, 96 pages with a portrait of the author (from a photograph) and numerous illustrations from drawings by Robert Ingpen. Papered boards a little rubbed and bumped at the extremities; front pastedown a little bubbled; a very good copy with the very good dustwrapper (slightly torn). 'An assemblage of recipes collected, tested, improved upon or invented' by the author, with interesting commentary throughout. 'Donald Allan Dunstan (1926-1999), premier, lawyer, and restaurateur' is how his entry commences in the 'Australian Dictionary of Biography'; not least, he was Labor premier of South Australia from 1967 to 1968, and 1970 to 1979. The title page of this copy has been signed by Dunstan and several other Labor Party luminaries: Bob Hawke (future prime minister, 1983-1991), Tasmanian MP and senator John Coates, Tasmanian premier Doug Lowe (1977-1981), and John Charles White (Tasmanian MP, 1986-1999, who also wrote 'I taught Doug all he knows . 1977').
