First Edition first printing. Signed by author without inscription to second front page. A very nice copy with 5 maps, 40 pages of illustration and 8 pages in full color. Jacket design Lidia Ferrara. Volume is tight and unblemished but there is early separation of top of early pages from binding which should easily be fixed. (Photo provided). The exterior of the DJ is good with minor water stain to lower back edge. A child seems to have illustrated the back of the dust jacket with a pencil drawing only visible on removing it from book. Lovely Photo of author to back of DJ. A wonderful read.

Review
Wise, witty, and wonderful . . . a great book, in a great historical tradition (Commentary)
Beautifully written, careful and thorough in its scholarship . . . What Ms. Tuchman does superbly is to tell how it was. . . . No one has ever done this better (New York Review of Books)

Store description
Private Collector of 50 years dispersing own library. Collection predominantly Contemporary first editions and signed editions. Additionally many signed Political Memoirs , History , Churchilliana and Some Antiquarian. A large collection of early Folio Society books and sets. Based in Australia. As this is a personal library I'm happy to discuss the provenance of any volume and additional photos if required. Have derived enormous pleasure through assembling my collection, completing “sets” and obtaining best copies available of books I have personally enjoyed over the years. I have always attempted to buy the best available copy of the book I have sought, often through the Abebooks portal. Now seeking to enjoy finding appreciative new homes for books as a reversal of a lifelong hobby.…
