1882 First Edition hardback of 715 pages, inscribed by the author to first blank page (faces title) " Joseph Whitaker Esq with friendly regards Henry Bohn" Jan? 20th 1882. Black end papers, first of which has bookplate for Joseph Whitaker, FRA Enfield Middlesex. Whitaker was a publisher, in January 1858 he launched The Bookseller and in 1869 published the first issue of Whitaker's Almanack. Title page has small tears at bottom edge. Printed n rough cut paper, all pages tight within binding. Brown board covers with bevelled edges, with gilt titles . Bumped to corners, slightly scuffed to front and spine.
