First edition; 4to (260 x 190 mm, 10 x 7 1/2 in); half-title signed by seven former Colditz prisoners of war, numerous colour and black & white portraits and illustrations; publisher's black cloth, gilt lettering, boards slightly bowed, small chip to long side of upper one, otherwise a very good and internally fine. Signed by seven former Colditz prisoners of war:- Kenneth Lockwood, Jimmy Yule, Hugh Bruce, Tommy Catlow, Peter Allan, Walter Morison and Jack Best, co-designer of the famous Colditz glider. 'It is well know that the discipline in Oflag IVC, the Escapers' camp, was harsher than in any other British Prisoners of War Camp in Germany.' Foreword by Field Marshal The Lord Chetwode.
