Synopsis

Lily has always felt that she was destined for great things. She and her brother, Mathis, live in happiness and harmony with their mother, Queen Adelina Arluin. Lily learns much from her mother’s wise rule over the land of Frementia—until her mother’s ill-fated new marriage places the kingdom under a tyrant’s control and paints a target on the backs of the royal family. Lily, Mathis, and Adelina are forced to flee before Adelina’s new husband can have them killed.

While on the run, Lily is separated from her mother and brother. Only the timely arrival of a magical savior keeps her from harm and inspires her to search for her missing family. This mission isn’t the only one Lily takes up as she explores the lands far from her home.

Lily, along with a mysterious young man and special animal allies, discovers the secrets of the enchanted land of I Am and the dark forests that lurk beyond. There, people have forgotten who they truly are and are at the mercy of hungry creatures called the Tukkars. To save the land and discover her own special purpose, Lily will have to confront her worst fears and face an uncertain future.

About the Author

Julie Pacheco, a passionate animal activist, used her love for animals and her dedication to social change, as well as her mixed ethnic background of Puerto Rican, German, and Polish, as inspiration for Lily’s journey and the characters in her new young-adult fantasy, The Destiny of I Am. Pacheco lives with her dog, Jacy, in Chicago, Illinois. She enjoys experiencing all the music, food, and vibrant culture the city has to offer.
