Item description from seller

Blue cloth, gilt titles, spine a bit faded. 7 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches, 163 clean pp., tight. No dj. Signed by the author on the ffep. The author was for forty-five years active in the ministry of the Methodist Church, after which he was elected a State Representative to the Ohio General Assembly, serving four terms, or eight years. His observations as a Christian acting in the capacity as a State Representative gave him an unusual viewpoint for assessing the relationship between Christianity and Civil Government. The first chapter is "Democracy Founded upon Truth."The author warns that American can lose her freedoms and that there were more Communists in the United States than there were in Russia when their revolution took place. "Greed, selfishness, individualism, hate, profligacy, Demagoguery, loss of self-control, and unrighteousness have produced the wrong conditions in our world today. A survey in 1950 in the United States showed that we had one communist for every 1,814 persons. In Russian when the Revolution started, there was one communist for each 2,247 persons. It can happen here! Our precious liberties can vanish!" - p. 158.…
