Item description from seller

Signed and inscribed by author to Mana-Zucca upon front free endpaper. "Mana-Zucca (1885-1981) was a concert pianist and singer of great renown, and a prolific composer." - Wikipedia. Writing upon first leaf suggests this book may have also belonged to a passenger of the Exodus 1947, a vessel carrying 4515 Holocaust survivors which the British army prevented from disembarking in Palestine. Please see our photo. "The true story of two young Jewish boys who sought to hurry history with a gun, and were hanged for it. What led them, desperate for freedom for their country, into a conspiracy of terror. The author has worked on the story since he covered their trial in 1945. He interviewed nearly all the survivors of the conspiracy which planned this deed, and checked their stories against the official records in three countries and against his own on-the-spot reporting. David Ben-Gurion renewed the debate over this conspiracy when he admitted his 'reverence for' those who were hanged." - dust jacket. "The man they killed was the highest British official in the Middle East, a member of Churchill's war cabinet." - page 7. 317 p. Index. Clean, tight and square with moderate wear. Moderate wear to unclipped dust jacket now in glossy new archival-grade protection. A quality signed example with an extraordinary provenance. ; 8vo; Signed by Author. …
