Item description from seller

John Wyndham (1951) ‘The Day of the Triffids‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Michael Joseph. Signed by the author on the half title page in Wyndham’s beautiful hand and black ink he used in the early 1950s. Condition: a fine copy in a near fine dust jacket with just a triffle edge wear to the top. Comes with the elusive blue Daily Graphic bellyband. The Day of the Triffids is a classic of British science fiction. It reignited Wyndham’s career after WWII. The book was adapted several times. As a movie in 1963, a 1981 BBC production for television, another BBC adaptation in 2009, as well as several radio adaptations. John Wyndham was a very reclusive writer, never gave any interviews, and did not attend any signing events. As a result, signed copies of his work are exceptionally scarce. We recommend the BBC documentary ‘John Wyndham – the Invisible Man of Science Fiction’. First and Fine.
