Item description from seller

John Wyndham. Day of the Triffids. London: Michael Joseph, 1951. First edition. Inscribed by John Wyndham to Forrest Ackerman (an early champion of the book): "To Forry Ackerman / (hoping he will overlook the high / incidence of pubs herein) / from / John Wyndham / 4 / John Benyon Harris / 22 - 8 - 51." ("John Wyndham" is a shortening of the rather overly long name John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Benyon Harris, again shortened here to "John Benyon Harris." Octavo. 302pp. Publisher's green cloth, spine lettered in silver, original unclipped dust jacket with cover art by Patrick Gierth. From the Collection of Maurice Neville. Spine and boards lightly rubbed; front corners gently bumped; spine tail and lower board edges dampstained (not effecting textblock); jacket foxed, toned, chipped, and torn, tape repairs to verso. Still, very good. .
