Item description from seller

First UK Edition. Publisher's red boards with gilt spine lettering. SIGNED COPY. A VG copy (spine tips pushed and lightly faded; end-papers foxed and offset as usually found; a dog-eared page to p. 117; clean contents; no inscriptions) in a very near fine dustwrapper, not price-clipped, tiny corner wear. Signed in blue ink to the title page by the Author without dedication. Overall, a nice SIGNED copy of the first impression of probably the best-known of the author's works, the first book to feature the inimitable Larkin family from rural Kent, who 'faced life as many of us would like to face life with no thought for consequences or tomorrow'. Signed first editions are uncommon. The basis for the 1990's TV series it stars David Jason as "Pop" Larkin alongside Pam Ferris as "Ma" Larkin, with Catherine Zeta-Jones playing their eldest daughter Mariette; who marries tax inspector Cedric "Charley" Charlton, played by Philip Franks. A ratings success, it was Zeta-Jones's breakthrough role. A further adaptation of the novel, 'The Larkins' was made by ITV and broadcast in October 2021. Photographs/scans available upon request.…
