Nola Perez is a prizewinning poet who grew up in historic Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida's northernmost barrier island. She lived away from the island for forty years, seven of those years abroad in Brussels, Belgium, and Paris, France. She returned to the U. S. in 1999. She has been a participant author/panelist, Amelia Island Book Festival since 2001: Author Selection Committee Head for Poetry AIBF '06. She is widely published in literary journals and magazines. While living in Paris, she was a 1993 Finalist in The National Poetry Series, Runner up 1998 Anhinga Press Poetry Competition, Robert Penn Warren 1997 First Poetry Award (Vermont) for "The Returning", 2009 Prize award for "The Drowning Moment," Utmost Christian Poetry Contest (Canada). Grant award from State of Georgia and two publication awards from City of Atlanta, Bureau of Cultural Affairs. Kir is a French concoction that pairs dry white wine with Cassis.
