Green cloth with shelf wear to the boards. Jacket chipped and rubbed. Large chips, paper loss at spine ends and uper corners. Protected now in a nw mylar cover. Inscribed on the second blank page to previous owners from "The Belle of New Orleans, Anna Clyde" Dated April 26, 1949. A memoir of one of the many families connected with the celebrated Gaines case in New Orleans. Between 1834 and 1890, the Myra Clark Gaines Case went to the Louisiana Supreme Court five times and to the United States Supreme Court seventeen times, making it the longest-running lawsuit in the history of the United States Supreme Court.
