First edition. xiv, 306 pp. 24 cm. Illustrated with color woodcuts by Louise A. Freedman. Publishers' cloth. Fine, in a very good price-clipped dustwrapper with a few small tears to the edges. Inscribed by the author to the great boxing champion: "For Polly and Gene Tunney, with love and good wishes from Joseph Verner Reed (sponsor of the book), May 1964." From 1963 through 1981, Reed was Vice President and Assistant to the Chairman of the Chase Manhattan Bank, Mr. David Rockefeller. In 1981 he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as Ambassador of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Morocco. He was recently re-appointed by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as Under-Secretary-General and Special Advisor in January 2007.
