Long inscritpion on title page, signed and dated by the author. This life is based on access to the subject's papers, "one of the founders of the internationally famous mid-Victorian "Dublin School " of Medicine" and famous for " for the epnyms "Corrigan's Disease", "Corrigan's Pulse" and "Corrigan's Button". Corrigan, who had to battle prejudice against his Catholic upbringing, was a noted controversialist who also, as an MP in Westminster, took on his own Church and was very committed to raising awareness of the Great Famine and its health links. He was an early warner of the dangers of undue dependence on a single crop, the potato. A clean, bright copy of an important book.
