On each left-hand page is a glossary of terms relating to good and bad points of conformation and anatomy, including those that legally had to be declared by anyone selling a horse in France. On the facing right-hand plate is one or more color lithographs that illustrates a term. The illustrations are done in a fluid, sometimes humorous, style.
