Published in Shrewsbury in 1852, this is the first Edition of this very scarce book of Psalms and Hymns for use in The Private Chapel at Hawkstone Hall in Shropshire, the Hawkstone Estate & Park was owned by Lord Hill, this is Lord Hill?s own personal copy with his name inscribed in the front, bound in an old full leather binding, 5.5 inches tall approx., 240 pages plus index. The leather binding has some general rubbing wear, top corner chipped on rear board, some loss to leather at top of spine, internally foxing and browning to endpapers, some creasing wear and a few handling marks within, else in good general condition, very scarce, only one copy located in the main institutional library collections, and that is the single copy in the British Library, most likely there were only a handful of copies produced.
