A former village schoolteacher she set her novels of English rural life in the villages of Fairacre and Thrush Green. This set of books is inscribed to an American reader and several contain personal handwritten cards. Unless otherwise noted all are first editions, very good in their dust jacket and are published in London by Michael Joseph. 1) The White Robin. 1979. Inscribed as Dora Saint and Miss Read. Christmas card laid in with handwritten inscription and envelope. "Now we are getting in the logs & coal, & looking out our winter woolies". 2) Gossip from Thrush Green. 1981.
