South Subur, Tientsin, China: Student Work Department, Tientsin Hui Wen Academy, 1935. First edition, 1935, signed by the author on the title page. Poems of life in China, specifically in the small walled city of Changli, North China and neighboring districts, illustrated with small black and white drawings by the author's son. The poetry expresses a way of life that was soon jarred by the escalation in relations between China and Japan and the beginning of the full scale Second Sino-Japanese War. Brown textured cloth with woven Chinese design, 52 pages. Very good condition with some light fading near the spine, good hinges, sound text block, lightly age-toned but clean pages, no other names or markings. Signed by the Author. First Edition.
