Add to basketFirst Edition -- inscribed to journalist David Broder -- of this biography of the distinguished centrist Sen, Charles Percy. The Illinois Republican was among the most well-regarded and effective senators between the mid 1960s and mid 1980s. In the year of publication, Percy was rumored to toe the presidential waters in 1968 and at the time of publication was presumably seeking some attention from Great Mentioners, such as David Broder, unofficial dean of Washington political journalists throughout the Percy era. Later in 1968, Broder would make one of the most famous Mentions in the golden age newspaper political punditry -- identifying Spiro Agnew as a surprise Vice Presidential favorite of Republican nominee Richard Nixon. Inscribed by author David Murray to David Broder on the half title page. Cloth, 178 pages. Has a bit of tanning of the page edges and edge wear on the dust jacket.
