Phyllis Eltringham, a contributor, describes herself as living on `a quiet little city street' that passes by and runs `to the sea beyond'. At one time about 1920 a VERY noteable Canadian painter lived in that section of Victoria and walked her dogs to the butcher shop in a perambulator. This is the James Bay district and these 166 pages tell the TALE. Illustrated, as most local histories are, by b/w photos. actually compiled by the Historical Committee - of which Louise Iverson is the `chair'. 20 contributors have autographed the ffep. Cond : Blue boards with gold face and spine lettering. RUBBED at spine tail and bottom edge, else rather crisp. Spine fine, binding tight, colours bright. Clean. No tears, names nor marks. Almost giftable. Quote (p. 13)(Bill Nye) : " . stories of the sea and had a remarkable memory for such things as the tonnages and cargo of every ship he had sailed on.
