A fine copy in a very good+ dust jacket. With Preface, Foreword by R.A. McLemore, b/w photographs and illustrations, Bibliography, and Index. Features four chapters titled as "State Superintendent of Education," "President, Mississippi Industrial Institute and College," "Governor of Mississippi," and "Legislative Program of the Whitfield Administration" plus "Appendix: Genealogy of Henry Lewis Whitfield." Uncommon biography of Mississippi Governor Henry Whitfield (1868-1927) who famously defeated Theodore G. Bilbo in the state's 1923 gubernatorial election.
