First printing, inscribed on the title page "Frances Clarke Sayers inscribeds this book to Shelley - with every good wish." Spine ends are rubbed and there is some discoloration to the top inch of the front board. Bookplate on front pastedown. Binding tight, text and illustrations clean and bright. Dust jacket has one-inch tear along the front joint and some small chips to the top edge and front fold, but is generally well preserved and attractive. Helen Sewell was a prolific illustrator, known for illustrating Laura Ingalls Wilders's Little House books, works by Elizabeth Coatesworth and A.A. Milne, and serveral of her own books (among others). Sayers was an author, librarian, and lecturer on children's literature. This was her first book. Seller Inventory # 21600
