Add to basketFirst UK Edition. SIGNED & INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR WITH A TYPED LETTER TO THE RECIPIENT. Publisher's mauve-coloured boards with silver lettering to the spine. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. A near fine copy signed and inscribed by the Author to the front free end-paper: "To L. Downing, Esq ---/ and Victory in 1943!/ Berkeley Gray". Attached to the front paste-down is a 14-line TLS from the Author and dated February 1st, 1943. The letter concerns the return of Blonde for Danger to Mr. Downing duly inscribed as requested with further comments about other Berkeley Gray titles: "Six Feet of Dynamite" and "Six to Kill". The author goes on to mention that Pollard's Hill did "catch a packet" in the recent air raid and that "a couple of bombs fell so close to my house that we had a broken roof, smashed windows, fallen ceilings, etc. He goes on to say that "we came through safely as quite a few people lost their lives a couple of streets away". The near fine dustwrapper is priced 7/6 to the inside flap and - on close examination - appears to have had neat archival (almost invisible) repairs to the spine tips. The overall appearance of the dustwrapper is of an excellent example and it shows very well. Great cover art by J. Abbey - the noted dustwrapper artist of the Golden Age of detective fiction. Scarce with these attributes. Photographs/scans available upon request.
