Bestie: A Portrait Of A Legend, Joe Lovejoy, Sidgwick & Jackson, 1998 Signed First Edition Second Impression Regarded as one of the best players in the history of football, named European Footballer of the Year in 1968 and sixth in the FIFA Player of the Century vote, Best received plaudits for his playing style which combined pace, skill, balance, feints, two-footedness, goalscoring and the ability to get past defenders and became one of the first media celebrity footballers. This insightful biography tells the story of his troubled relationship with his family in Belfast, his near-adoption by Matt Busby, his tensions with Bobby Charlton, his wives and lovers and the serious failures, both off and on the pitch that brought him notoriety. Signed copies of George Best's autobiographies are becoming increasingly hard to find and at the moment we know of no other signed copies of this authorised biography for sale. The title page has been signed both by George Best and the author Joe Lovejoy. A First Edition, Second Impression in near fine condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is minimal shelf wear to the bottom edge of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from marks, tears or inscriptions. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear, removable cover is in near fine condition with no issues. A rare copy of the biography of a flawed genius in the world of football, this would make an impressive addition to a library or a wonderful gift. Will be dispatched wrapped in bubblewrap and in a cardboard box. Seller Inventory # 02053
