First printing ( with a 1 on the last page ) of this very charming book of children's stories, SIGNED and DATED by the author in the month of publication: October 1912, an association copy to Ada Sterling, a book collector, also on this front endpaper two small neat owner names indicating succession; one dated July 1942 and the next 1955. Profusely illustrated with wonderful lively black ink drawings by J. M. Conde. This is a collection of anthromorphosized animal stories told in a heavy southern black dialect. Front hinge starting, corners bumped, wear at spine, some soil, stains and a significant tear to one page, but intact, mostly clean, eminently readable and vividly illustrated.
