About this Item
First Edition (NAP). Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free end paper ('To Maureen, who shines with love for the dance. Don't stop! Joseph Gale'). As you should be able to see from the photographs, the covers are in excellent condition, very clean and unworn. The book is also square and tight, and very solidly bound. The pages are in exceptional condition. I didn't see one instance of any soiling. There aren't any markings or attachments. No creasing or dogeared corners. And with the exception of the author's signed inscription no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. Very attractive mustard-colored end papers. Quite a few (I counted 51) very nice photographs. The dust jacket is in very good condition with just a few nicks and light creases. It is Not clipped and it is very clean. You can see it in the first couple of photographs. The jacket will be fitted with a protective cover. From the front flap 'The line that separates good from great is a thin one. Many are the good ballet teachers working in the United States today, but few are great, according to Joseph Gale. The author defines master teachers as those who through some strange alchemy infuse their work with the quality that inspires as it informs.' The author highlights seven teachers 'who exemplify the inheritance of tradition. They are the torchbearers, the Olympians who preserve and hand down the flame of all they have learned filtered through the prisms of the inside and excellence'. Chapters on the seven master teachers: Margaret Craske, Leon Danielian, Felia Doubrovska, Valentina Pereyaslavec, Karel Shook, Muriel Stuart, and Hector Zaraspe. Seller Inventory # 001285
