Burt reprint edition. 302 + xii pp. 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Blue cloth boards with gilt titling to cover and spine. Slight fading to spine with abrasion, dimpling and hole near title (see photo). Roads Bright, Pottsville, PA on front and on rear paste-down (inside cover). Incidentally, Babe Ruth and the Yankees made numerous visits to the Pottsville area (Schuylkill County) in the 1920s to play exhibition games against local clubs. On one occasion, Babe Ruth was presented with a miniature baseball bat made of a solid piece of anthracite coal taken from a mine at the depth of 1,700 feet (New York Times, Sept. 17, 1921). One of the earliest baseball clubs in the area, the Pottsville Anthracites, was founded in 1882, although organized baseball had been played in the county since 1866. Ships fast with tracking.
