With an early inscription on the title page from Bukowski to Seamus Cooney: "To Seamus Cooney Uh huh, Charles Bukowski / 3-6-71." Gentle sunning along the spine, else very Near Fine. An important, early compilation of Bukowski's work, culled from the pages of little magazines and early publications; in addition to a selection of Bukowski's poetry, the Sampler contains an introduction by Douglas Blazek and appreciations by Al Purdy, Steve Richmond, William Wantling, and Don Cauble, et al. An excellent association copy inscribed to editor and poetry scholar Seamus Cooney, who during his decades-long friendship with the poet was responsible for editing the three volumes of Bukowski's Selected Letters, as well as a collection of correspondence with Al Purdy (The Bukowski/Purdy Letters, 1964-1974).
