1995 London, 1st edn, 262pp, hundreds of photos in b&w and color, Limited edition 1/2 leather binding issue. The famous London gun maker Boss & Company has been in continuous existence for two centuries. During this period, it has remained a family firm. Considered one of the "Big Three" in London gunmaking, it is the only firm of this group on which no book has been published. It chronicles the company from its founding by Thomas Boss (1790-1857) to the present day. Boss & Company has been a major innovative force in gunmaking; they were the first to have a good working single trigger and the first to make a light and elegant, yet strong, over and under. Several appendices give considerable detail on the breakdown of gun production, on Boss patents, on how to date Boss guns, and on the family. Profusely illustrated with hundreds of photos in color as well as black and white, printed on quality glossy paper and fully authorized by Boss this book is the most detailed, best, and most elaborate production ever produced on any of the London gunmakers. A FINE copy, SIGNED and numbered by Donald Dallas. This was part of a limited leather-bound edition numbered and signed by the author. However no limitation number filled in. Original invoice and letter from publisher enclosed from 1996.…

Store description
World Wide Hunting Books, from the Publisher of Sports Afield magazine, sells fine antiquarian big-game hunting and exploration & hunting books on Asia, North America, Europe and Africa. World Wide Hunting Books’ stock is mainly antiquarian first editions that are in above-average condition; we have the collector in mind when we buy our books. If you are looking for a rare first edition on elephant hunting or a book on an expedition after wild sheep in Asia that took place over a century ago, you will likely find it in our extensive stock. We have books on tiger, bear, wild sheep, elk, ibex, buffalo, rhino, elephant, and lion hunting. We also have early exploration and hunting accounts from North America, Asia, and Africa. If it is a book on big-game hunting and if it is out of print, it is likely we have handled the book in our thirty-five-plus years of being in this field. We maintain a detailed, proprietary database with seven thousand-plus entries with bibliographical notes that helps us keep track of the thousands of hunting books ever printed. We work with small collectors as well as huge university libraries. We are proud to have helped some of our customers create collections that contain more than one thousand books, but we are equally happy to provide you with that one special book you have always longed for or want to present as a gift. …
