Item description from seller

First edition of this translation. Elaborately gilt-decorated spine and upper board by T. Sturge Moore, and with his illustrations and decorations. Bookplates of R.T.Lansdale and Barry Humphries to front pastedown; spine very lightly darkened, rear board lightly dust-soiled, offsetting to free endpapers, some browning to half-title, but essentially a very nice copy in a fleece-lined, gilt-lettered, ivory pigskin-backed solander box by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, with some discolouration to leather edge of upper board. Now that I have read it all again in Mr Finberg's translation and recalled that first impression, I can see how those symbols became a part of me, and for years to come dominated my imagination'. Edition limited to five hundred copies, signed by the translator.…
