Autograph Letter from the publisher John Murray IV (1851-1928), thanking his correspondent for congratulations on his knighthood. Writing on one side of a bifolium with the blind stamp of The Athenaeum Club in London on 21 May 1898, Murray writes to 'My dear Mrs Salmon' with his thanks 'for your hearty congratulations. I have yet to learn what is unbefittiing the dignity of a K.C.B.!!' signing himself John Murray. Very good condition. Murray succeeded to the great publishing company founded in his family's name, becoming the publisher to Queen Victoria.
