First Edition inscribed by Charles Fountain to Roger Angell of this definitive biography of immensely colorful and stylish mid 20th century Boston magazine writer and newspaper columnist George Frazier. Acerbic wit, noted jazz aficionado, and self-appointed style maven, debonair Southie Frazier was a notable Oceans Eleven era personality and taste maker. His friends and admirers included longtime New Yorker fiction editor Roger Angell. Angell first became acquainted with Frazier in 1940 as a quite young reader of manuscripts over the transom for Simon and Schuster. Angell encountered Frazier's manuscript for a novel entitled "Boston Common." Quite good, but perhaps too much in the style of Frazier's idol John O'Hara, according to young Angell. Three quarters of a century later, in 2105, Angell paid tribute to Frazier in a New Yorker piece titled "Sprezzatura." Sprezzatura, in Angell's view, was the defining characteristic of his friend and the author of a much read, admired and contemplated essay for men of a certain generation: "The Art of Wearing Clothes." Angell was a source for this biography, most notably in the discussion of "Boston Common." Inscribed by Charles Fountain to Roger Angell on the front endpaper.
