A smart, scarce study of the Norfolk Domesday Book by the Rev. George Munford, with the author"s signed letter. First edition. With a signed letter from the author loosely inserted, in which he explains he will look in the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society for a book inquired into by the recipient, and present it alongside this title. Addressed to the Rev. C. R. Manning, with his blind stamp to the half title. Scarce. In the original blind-stamped cloth binding. Retaining the half title. An analysis of the tenants, population, observations, animals, churches and trades of Norfolk, as recorded in the invaluable Domesday Book. With an introduction and notes made by the Rev. George Munford, member of the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society, Vicar of East Winch and author of similar local work, "Names of Towns and Villages County of Norfolk". Twenty-four page catalogue of publisher"s advertisements to the rear. In the original blind-stamped cloth binding. Externally, smart, with mild rubbing and bumping to the extremities and a couple marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound.
