About the Author

Derek Chollet is an analyst and commentator on American foreign policy and politics at a leading Washington think tank. He has held positions as assistant to James A. Baker III, Secretary of State for President George H.W. Bush, and chief national security adviser to Senator John Edwards. The author of several books, he has written numerous articles in publications like the Washington Post, FT and Wall Street Journal. James Goldgeier is a professor of political science at George Washington University and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He has written three previous books and has been published widely in newspapers and magazines.
