About the Author
Julia Donaldson has written some of the world's best-loved children's books, including modern classics The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child, which together have sold over 18 million copies worldwide and have been translated into over one hundred languages. Her other books include Room on the Broom, Stick Man and Zog, illustrated by Axel Scheffler, The Hospital Dog, illustrated by Sara Ogilvie and the hugely successful What the Ladybird Heard adventures, illustrated by Lydia Monks. Julia also writes fiction, including the Princess Mirror-Belle series, illustrated by Lydia Monks, as well as poems, plays and songs – and her brilliant live shows are always in demand. She was the UK Children’s Laureate 2011–13 and has been honoured with a CBE for Services to Literature. Julia divides her time between West Sussex and Edinburgh.
Axel Scheffler is a star illustrator whose instantly recognizable, warm and witty illustrations have achieved worldwide acclaim and numerous awards. We specialise in collectable modern signed first edition books. Both fiction and non fiction titles in a wide range of subjects. The books we sell are of the highest quality being new in very fine unread condition, often with promotional extras. Most of the books we sell have been personally selected- our aim is to ensure that we only sell the very best copies that are available to us. We attend many book signing events throughout the year and are able to obtain signatures in person. Where possible we take photographs of the author signing our books, obtain event flyers and tickets, all with the aim of adding extra provenance. Returns accepted up to 14 days from date of sale.
All books listed on Abebooks are sold as described. We will offer a refund including return postage if the books that arrive are not as described or received damaged in transit to you. The returns policy does not include any damage caused to the books after receipt of delivery.
If for any other reason you wish to return a book to us, a refund (excluding return shipping costs payed by the buyer) will only be given with prior discussion with us upon the receipt of the order.
All books must be returned to us in the same condition as supplied including any extras supplied with your order.

Right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer you can withdraw from the contract in accordance with the following. Consumer means any natural person who is acting for purposes which are outside his trade, business, craft or profession.
Information regarding the right of withdrawal
Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Clearbury Books, Salisbury, WILTS, United Kingdom, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
Shipping terms
At Clearbury Books when it comes to packing and shipping our aim is to ensure that any books sold by us reach you in the condition as sold, free from any damages in transit to you.
All books sold by Clearbury Books, as well as any extras that may be supplied with our books, are sent out well packed using plenty of bubble wrap, inside a cardboard book box.
Orders are usually dispatched within 2-3 working days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2lbs or 1kg. If your book order is heavy or oversized we may be in contact with you to let you know extra shipping costs are required.
All UK shipping, depending on value and shipment weight, will either be dispatched by Royal Mail Signed For, Special Delivery or Courier Service.
All overseas shipping, again depending on value and shipment weight, will be dispatched by Royal Mail International Tracked or Tracked and signed, depending on the shipping destination or by Courier.
