Ah Kohya is Terayamaâ s fictional account of two young boys from 1960s Shinjuku who are striving to be professional boxers. This celebrated work was first published in instalments by literary magazine Gendai no Me in 1965 and in book-form the following year. The design of this deluxe edition picks up on the boxing theme: the photographs and text are separated into two separate volumes bound in red and blue to represent the two corners, the mull represents the tape on the boxerâ s fists and the steel slipcase can be used as a bell.
