Be Healthy.Stay Young.Live Long.Enjoy! Gary. While in high school and college, Dr. Italia started weight training and bodybuilding. He attended college for exercise science and knew he was destined for the health care field. He had a surgeon father and nurse mother. He originally thought he'd be a medical doctor until he encountered a chiropractor who helped him with an injury. A shoulder problem left Dr. Italia unable to train and compete in bodybuilding. He sought chiropractic care and found he was much better after a few weeks. Chiropractic was natural with his belief in fitness, nutrition and body health. Dr. Italia studied at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. He then attended National University of Health Sciences near Chicago, Illinois. There, he learned how to practice a medicine-based chiropractic practice using physical therapy, supplements, diagnostic testing and more to provide effective care. Continuing to learn is a vital part of Dr. Italia's practice philosophy. He has earned numerous degrees including two bachelor's degrees, a master's degree and a Ph.D., in addition to his Doctor of Chiropractic. Additionally, he is licensed by Connecticut as a nutritionist. As the chiropractic physician for the American Bodybuilding Team in the 1990s, Dr. Italia traveled to Italy for competitions. He has also worked with elite athletes including top-ranked boxers. Teaching has also been a part of Dr. Italia's career. If you've ever struggled to comprehend the vast amounts of information available on the subjects of health and wellness, you'll appreciate The Ageless Advantage: Your Complete Resource for Living Longer Through Diet and Lifestyle. Author Gary Italia has selected gems of advice from the medical and scientific communities and presented them in an easy-to-understand question-and-answer format. Each of more than twenty chapters concludes with a summary of key points, and all key points are compiled in a master plan at the end of the book for easy reference. There are tips here for people of all ages and seriousness of purpose. Whether you make just a few changes or all of those suggested, you will enjoy the benefits of life-lengthening choices. Both diet and lifestyle factors affecting longevity are discussed, including smoking, exercise, antioxidants, hormones, weight control, anti-aging food choices, supplements, stress, and social and emotional influences. In many areas of life, the focus is on maximum return. Why should longevity be any different? Italia makes the point that achieving optimal nutrition, rather than just adequate nutrition, is fairly easy but has a profound impact on length of life. Likewise for lifestyle changes--a little change in the right direction can make a substantial difference in how long you live. The anti-aging advice presented here is well researched and documented. It also includes practical information gleaned from Italia's own experience and that of his patients.
